Final Blog Post

And here we are friends, at the end of our time together. This will be the final post on this blog. It has been a blast communicating to you and learning about the usefulness that social media can provide. I have learned an awful lot about social media throughout this course. Perhaps the most important aspect I've learned is just how integral social media is to growing one's brand. Social media provides so many opportunities to users than has ever existed in the history of the world. The only problem is, that these opportunities are now available to everyone. This is only a problem in the fact that competition is fierce. It's an amazing opportunity that is available for everyone.

I've learned how to promote my brand by using Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Reddit and the importance of having a way to differentiate myself using these platforms to stand out from the rest. Developing a plan of action is the most important thing to do when getting started building a brand. Having a laid out guideline to follow is important for staying on track and knowing what to do next.

A thing that i would have liked to had the opportunity to learn more about would probably have been ways to differentiate myself from others that are trying to build their brand. I'd have liked to have learned specific traits that customers tend to focus on and how to market myself with those traits.
The social media platforms that i think i will make more use of going forward will probably be LinkedIn. I'm not really the kind of person that enjoys putting myself out there and having people that i don't know, knowing about what i am doing. So with that in mind, Facebook has never been a main focus of mine. My wife does all the Facebooking in our relationship and those that want to see what we're up to, will follow her and she'll provide the updates. I haven't posted anything on Facebook in quite a few years. However, i view LinkedIn has a great opportunity to build my network and reach out to professionals in my field and potentially find better job opportunities.

I have actually had quite a bit of fun in this class. I enjoyed toying with the idea of how i would have built my brand had i continued following sports photography. These were all things that i never would have thought about using when i was first starting out. I've enjoyed learning the pros and cons of social media and the ways to market myself. I hope that you all have a great rest of your time at Columbia College. This is the final assignment that i have to do before i am a college graduate. I'm very excited to be finished and i enjoyed my time with Columbia College! Good luck to you all!
